Quality Control

US Cordsets is a quality focused manufacturer and embraces a culture of continuous improvement in all areas of our operations. Here are some of the key processes we use to ensure that our customers receive the highest quality products. Whether you purchase a standard stock power cord or require us to help design a custom wire harness our promise is to deliver the right product to you, on time, every time.

ISO 9001-2015 Certification

US Cordsets has begun the ISO-9001 certification process. We are partnering with a 3rd party consulting group to help guide us through the process and ensure our success. The current timeline will have a completed quality manual in 2021 with the ISO certification process to follow.

IPC/WHMA-A-620

The IPC/WHMA-A-620 standard prescribes practices and requirements for the manufacture of cable, wire and harness assemblies. The standard describes materials, methods, tests and acceptability criteria for producing crimped, mechanically secured and soldered interconnections, and the related assembly activities (corresponding lacing/restraining criteria) associated with cable and harness assemblies. Any method that produces an assembly conforming to the acceptability requirements described in this standard may be used.
The IPC/WHMA-A-620 standard sets expectations between WHMA members and their customers for what is considered acceptable quality workmanship for cables and harnesses.

US Cordsets manufactures all wire harnesses in accordance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 to ensure tolerances and specifications are in line with industry accepted dimensions when not specified on a customer print. We will review all specifications and confirm in writing any proposed changes that would be required due to any limitations that automated wire processing equipmentbefore beginning the manufacturing process.

RoHS

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive 2002/95/EC, short for Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, was adopted in February 2003 by the European Union.
US Cordsests manufactures all of its products in compliance with the RoHS directive.

REACH

REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. It entered into force on 1 June 2007.
REACH places the burden of proof on companies. To comply with the regulation, companies must identify and manage the risks linked to the substances they manufacture and market in the EU. They have to demonstrate to ECHA how the substance can be safely used, and they must communicate the risk management measures to the users.
If the risks cannot be managed, authorities can restrict the use of substances in different ways. In the long run, the most hazardous substances should be substituted with less dangerous ones.

Prop 65

Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.

5S
The 5S quality tool is derived from five Japanese terms beginning with the letter "S" used to create a workplace suited for visual control and lean production. The pillars of 5S are simple to learn and important to implement:
• Seiri: To separate needed tools, parts, and instructions from unneeded materials and to remove the unneeded ones.
• Seiton: To neatly arrange and identify parts and tools for ease of use.
• Seiso: To conduct a cleanup campaign.
• Seiketsu: To conduct seiri, seiton, and seiso daily to maintain a workplace in perfect condition.
• Shitsuke: To form the habit of always following the first four S’s.
5S is defined as a methodology that results in a workplace that is clean, uncluttered, safe, and well organized to help reduce waste and optimize productivity. It's designed to help build a quality work environment, both physically and mentally. The 5S philosophy applies in any work area suited for visual control and lean production.

6 Sigma
Six Sigma is a method that provides organizations tools to improve the capability of their business processes. This increase in performance and decrease in process variation helps lead to defect reduction and improvement in profits, employee morale, and quality of products or services.
